About Me
I'm a wedding & event photographer based out of Toronto, Canada. I've been doing event photography for the last 5 years for weddings, engagements, birthdays, anniversaries, and just about any event you can think of! Whatever the occasion, I'd love to help you capture your event to bring a lifetime of joyful memories.
As a Thamizh photographer who has been immersed in our language and culture my whole life, I am particularly knowledgeable about traditional events from Eelam culture. I can work with you to make sure I get the perfect "Thaali shot" at the Manavarai or make sure your baby's pottu is perfectly centred when they are showered with Kolukattai at their first tooth ceremony.
Beyond being behind the camera, I graduated from Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo and currently work as a Process Engineer at a consulting firm in the metals industry. I have a strong passion for Carnatic music, cooking, and volleyball.
How I Started in Photography
I found my dad's old camera gear in our basement one day in high school and decided to play around with it instead of studying. My dad did photography as a hobby since he was in high school too, starting out with film cameras and upgrading to a DSLR shortly after I was born. He even captured an entire wedding on his film camera back in the 90s. Safe to say something in my genes might have led me to this field.
I took this DSLR to a few family functions and took some really awful pictures, but looking through that lens changed what I was seeing. I spent a few months sifting through YouTube videos, blog posts, and Reddit threads to understand the inner workings of cameras, lenses, and even studying the physics of light and optics. I continued to mess around with the settings and tested out different styles of photography until I could get the camera to cooperate with me. I fine-tuned my technical and artistic skills and went from simply taking photographs to capturing moments.
